Mrs T: A Classy and Elegant Corporate Design for Delicacies with Tea

Creating a Brand that Mirrors the Essence of Mrs T's Tea-infused Delicacies

Mrs T - Delicacies with Tea is a fine food manufactory from Hamburg, Germany. Mrs T refines traditional recipes with tea, using it as an ingredient. The corporate design transports the high production standards, well-chosen ingredients, and the manufactory character of handmade goods through a classy, sleek, and elegant packaging and printed goods that accompany the products. The color range is very natural and agrees with the particularity of the products, using tea as an ingredient.

When it comes to corporate design, creating a brand that truly reflects the essence of the products is crucial. Julia Hell, the talented designer behind Mrs T's corporate design, understood this perfectly. Inspired by the world of tea, its packaging, accessories, heritage, and the ceremony of preparing tea in different cultures, Julia embarked on a journey to create a design that would capture the unique qualities of Mrs T's tea-infused delicacies.

Julia delved deep into the world of tea, researching its history, cultural significance, and the plant itself. This exploration led her back to the source of it all - the tea plant. Drawing inspiration from its elegance and simplicity, Julia crafted a clean and classy, yet distinct look and feel for Mrs T's corporate design.

The packaging for Mrs T's products is predominantly white, exuding a sense of purity and sophistication. Three corporate colors - carefully chosen to complement the products - add a touch of vibrancy and uniqueness. The logo, designed to work as a frame, acts as a golden quality label, branding all the goods produced in the Mrs T manufactory.

One of the standout features of the design is the choice of fonts. They reflect the handmade nature of the labels and add a personal touch to each product. The logo font, in particular, shares a similar look and feel, tying the entire design together.

Technologically, the design incorporates a golden hot foil for the logo on business cards and potentially on the packaging as well. The current packaging labels are printed in 4/4C, but the use of the golden hot foil adds a touch of luxury and elegance to the overall design.

With regards to specifications, the business cards measure 55 x 85 mm, while the bags come in two sizes - 180 x 260 x 40 mm for the big bag and 140 x 200 x 40 mm for the small bag. The glasses, which are also part of the packaging, are available in three sizes - 70 x 70 x 110 mm for the big glass, 70 x 70 x 75 mm for the medium glass, and 70 x 70 x 50 mm for the small glass. The flyer measures 105 x 210 mm.

Functionally, the bags can be sealed shut with a laminating machine, ensuring that the food inside is vacuum-sealed for freshness. The glasses feature a standard screw cap that can also be sealed shut using vacuum technology. All items are labeled from the outside to guarantee food safety.

The design project for Mrs T started in July 2016 and is an ongoing collaboration between Julia Hell, based in Berlin, and Mrs T, based in Hamburg. Throughout the process, Julia conducted extensive research, both online and through tasting Mrs T's products, to gain a deep understanding of the world she wanted to create for the brand.

One of the challenges Julia faced was deciding on the direction of the design. She initially explored three different approaches, each focusing on the origin and practices of tea ceremonies in Eastern and Western cultures. However, in the end, Julia and Mrs T decided to pursue a design that creates a brand for the products without the need for a complicated story.

The result is a corporate design that perfectly captures the essence of Mrs T's tea-infused delicacies. It exudes class, elegance, and a sense of handmade craftsmanship. The design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, earning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2018 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
